This page sets out the limits of what smallpdf.me promises, what you should expect from the tools, and who we are. Please read it before you rely on anything produced here. It is short, and it is written to be understood rather than to be skimmed past.
The tools are provided as they are
Every tool on SmallPDF is offered on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not warrant that a conversion will produce a particular result, that the output will match your original formatting exactly, that a tool will suit your purpose, or that the site will be free of errors or interruptions. We test the tools and fix problems when we find them. We cannot promise that no problem exists.
You use the tools at your own discretion. If a particular file matters, try it and check the result. That is the only reliable test, and it takes less time than reading a warranty clause.
Keep your own copy of every file
This is the most important paragraph on the page, so we will say it plainly.
Your files are processed in your own browser, on your own device, using JavaScript, WebAssembly and canvas rendering. They are not uploaded to our servers. No copy of your file ever reaches us, so we hold no copy of your file and we cannot recover it for you. If a conversion goes wrong, if you close the tab mid-operation, if your browser runs out of memory on a very large document, or if you overwrite the original by mistake, there is nothing on our side to restore. There is nothing to retrieve, because nothing was ever stored here.
Before you start, keep the original file in a safe place and work on a copy. Two habits cover almost every loss we hear about:
- Save the output under a new name instead of replacing the file you started from.
- For anything long or complex, keep a backup copy on another drive or in cloud storage you control.
Independence and no affiliation
SmallPDF at smallpdf.me is an independent website run by an individual publisher based in Pakistan.
It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to any other website, product, or company that uses a similar or identical name. Any similarity of name is coincidental, and no relationship is claimed or implied. Where another service happens to share part of our name, that service is separate from this one: different operator, different code, different policies, and no shared data. If you have a question about another service, ask that service. We cannot answer for it, and we cannot act on its behalf.
Not professional advice
Nothing on this site is legal, financial, medical, or tax advice, and nothing here should be treated as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. Our guides explain how to use software. They do not tell you what your documents should say.
Conversion can change things you did not intend to change. Fonts get substituted. Page breaks land in different places. Form fields, embedded fonts, image compression, metadata, and internal links can behave differently once a file is rebuilt in another format. Verify anything important against the original before you send it, file it, or sign it. For contracts, tax filings, medical records, and official submissions, check the converted document line by line and confirm the details yourself.
No liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or its tools. That includes lost or corrupted files, lost data, changes to formatting or content, wasted time, lost profits, and any indirect or consequential loss, however it arises.
You are responsible for the files you choose to process. You must have the right to use them. Do not use these tools on material you do not own or have permission to handle, and do not use them to break any law that applies to you. You are also responsible for keeping your own backups and for checking that the output is fit for whatever you plan to do with it.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions of liability. Where that is the case, the exclusions above apply only to the extent the law allows, and nothing in this disclaimer removes rights you have that cannot be given up.
External links
Some pages link to other websites. We link to things we think are useful, such as browser support documentation, Google’s advertising controls, and consent resources. We do not control those sites. We do not monitor their content, we do not vouch for it, and we are not responsible for what they publish, how they handle your data, or what they do with your information after you follow a link. Their terms and privacy policies apply once you leave smallpdf.me. If a link here is broken or points somewhere unexpected, tell us and we will look at it.
Advertising disclosure
This site is free to use, and advertising is what pays for it. Ads on this site are served through Google AdSense, publisher id pub-8928122502589555, along with Google’s advertising partners.
Ads are kept separate from the tools. Nothing you upload, convert, or edit has any effect on which ads appear, and no advertiser sees your files or has any say in how a tool behaves. An advertiser cannot pay to change what a tool outputs, and no tool is altered to suit an advertiser. Advertising also has no influence over what our guides say.
Changes to this disclaimer
We may update this page if the site changes or if the law requires it. The current version is always the one published here.
Contact
If anything on this page is unclear, or you think something here is wrong, write to [email protected]. The contact page lists the other ways to reach us. Questions about how a tool behaves are welcome, and reports of an inaccurate result are genuinely useful to us.
